Tens of thousands of Americans are now at risk of identity theft and privacy breaches after a healthcare company suffered a cyber security breach.
A new article from the US Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights demonstrations that the National Association on Drug Abuse Problems (NADAP) has encountered a hacking/IT problem that has affected 90,000 Americans.
In a notice sent to concerned people, NADAP he says an unauthorized organization gained access to its systems and stole a database of company data that may have included names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, medical records, health insurance records and tax or financial statements.
“On January 10, 2026, or around 10, 2026, we realized that there are suspicious things on our network.
With the help of cybersecurity experts, we learned information indicating that an unknown person gained unauthorized access to our network and obtained files, some of which contained confidential information and/or confidential information. Then NADAP worked quickly to identify the information and the affected people. This is an ongoing process.”
NADAP is a New York-based company that specializes in providing health services and services, including substance abuse screening and referrals, job preparation programs, vocational training, job placement and more.
The company said it has taken additional measures to strengthen the security of its network to reduce the risk of future attacks. NADAP also urges the affected people to monitor their accounts for any suspicious activity.
The company also said it has reported the incident to law enforcement agencies and government officials.
