Hackers Hit Android and iPhone Users’ Bank Accounts as Cybersecurity Firm Reveals 400% Increase in AI-Powered Malware Attacks

Cybersecurity firm Zimperium says that banking malware attacks are increasingly being powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI).

In a new blog post, Zimperium he says criminal bank attacks using AI have increased by 400% annually.

“What used to take weeks to do technical engineering now takes hours. Scams are 5 times more reliable. Changes are made faster than usual.

The (iPhone hacking) DarkSword exploit chain, revealed this week at the (cybersecurity conference) RSA, is a living illustration of this. There is no click. There is no software installation. Just visit the website and the device will crash. AI-assisted development is making this technology cheaper, faster and more accessible than ever. ”

The company has also warned that AI is helping online fraudsters to avoid fraud.

“76% of security teams say they can’t keep up with each other. The gap is getting wider with every AI era.”

In Zimperium’s new “Mobile Banking Heist” report, the company identified 34 malware families in 2025 and said 1,243 types of financial transactions were targeted in 90 countries.

“They were sophisticated, sophisticated and dangerous campaigns, which continue to undermine software security and exploit the organizations and customers who rely on them.

The scale is amazing. Three malware families alone target more than 60% of banking and fintech applications analyzed. “
