Interactive Brokers has launched crypto trading for eligible investors in the European Economic Area, expanding its digital assets through Interactive Brokers Ireland Limited, an authorized crypto-asset service provider.
The release gives users access to 11 digital assets, including Bitcoin, along with equities, options, futures, currencies, bonds, and mutual funds within a single account.
A donation is activated through integration with Zero Hash, which provides a backend crypto and stablecoin platform. The agreement expands the relationship between the two companies and opens up access to a market of around 450 million people across the EEA.
Clients can trade these products on the Interactive Brokers platform, including Trader Workstation, IBKR Desktop, Client Portal, IBKR Mobile, and IBKR GlobalTrader.
The company said the integration allows investors to manage digital assets and traditional securities in one place. The platform provides a comprehensive view of collaboration and sharing of tools for work, risk management, and investment.
“Our customers want the flexibility to invest in crypto-assets while maintaining the tools, prices, and trust they rely on,” said CEO Milan Galik. He added that combining asset classes within a single platform would enable efficient investment management and portfolio transparency.
Interactive Brokers set rates between 0.12% and 0.18% of the transaction value. The company said the service avoids spreads, markups, and fees, and allows for better price control margins. Crypto markets on the platform work continuously, showing a 24/7 digital trading system.
The development of bitcoin in Europe
The development of the EEA is based on the existing cryptocurrencies in other sectors. Interactive Brokers already offers digital trading in the United States through its domestic subsidiaries and in the United Kingdom through Interactive Brokers (UK) Limited.
The latest releases show the company’s continued efforts to integrate crypto into its global strategy.
The move comes as European regulators establish new rules for the digital economy which sets licensing requirements for crypto service providers. Working through its Irish team, Interactive Brokers aligns its offerings with regional regulatory standards while expanding trading opportunities for retail clients.
The company said that the launch is aimed at the needs of investors who are looking for crypto markets without relying on separate exchanges or wallets. By combining asset classes under one platform, Interactive Brokers positions its brokerage model as a bridge between traditional and digital assets.
