US Banks Hit by Massive Third-Party Breach, 672,075 Individuals’ Personal Information May Have Been Exposed

A US digital, marketing and communications firm has been hit by a data breach that affected more than half a million people.

In new filings with the Office of the Maine Attorney General, Marquis Software Solutions says it suffered a major data security breach affecting 672,075 people.

According to Marquis, an unauthorized person accessed his machine and stole files from his database.

Although the company did not specify the types of data that may have been stolen from the network, it says the breach was limited to its database and did not affect the operations of its customers.

“On or around August 14, 2025, we became aware of suspicious activity on our network. Our investigation later found that it was due to a data security issue. Upon learning of the incident, we immediately initiated an investigation and contacted cyber security experts for assistance. We also notified the authorities…

Our client reviewed the affected files on December 10, 2025, and subsequently worked to verify and identify individuals who may have been affected by this incident, and our client worked quickly to obtain current address information for individuals.”

Mr Marquis is encouraging victims to monitor their accounts and report any suspicious activity to authorities, while offering one year of free support from Epiq Privacy Solutions ID, which includes insurance and solutions services.

So far, bank vendors say they have not identified any misuse of data that could have been exposed for fraud or identity theft.
