Costco has agreed to a $14 million settlement to settle allegations that it sent marketing emails to Washington that contained false or misleading information.
The installation received preliminary approval on June 23, 2026.
The case it covers Washington residents who received a marketing email from Costco, or someone representing the retailer, between June 2, 2021, and July 7, 2026.
The lawsuit alleges that Costco violated the Washington Commercial Electronic Mail Act (CEMA) and the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) by using deceptive lines to advertise short-term sales when the company knew it would extend the sales beyond the stated period.
According to court documents, a sample of the emails including Headlines like “Today is the last day to access Member-Only Savings” and “Hot Buys available for 5 Days Only.”
Eligible members who have paid a valid interest rate can receive money from the fixed fund. The amount each person will receive depends on the number of approved admissions and other factors. No evidence is needed to make a decision.
Demands can be made on the Internet or by submitting a completed application form to the facility administrator.
The last day to submit a decision is August 24th, 2026. Those who want to withdraw or oppose the establishment can do so on August 24th.
Final approval is expected on October 2, 2026.
Costco says it followed the law and admits no wrongdoing.
