OSL Expands XRP Trading Access to Hong Kong Trading Users

Hong Kong has expanded the opportunity to sell digital assets by launching XRP trading for investors every day on OSL HK. The move makes OSL, the first Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) agency to have a license in the city for ordinary people to buy and sell XRP, all within the system. Until now, only professional investors can access XRP trading on OSL, after the group was launched in December 2025.

It’s another step in Hong Kong’s ongoing efforts to establish itself as an investment-friendly, crypto-friendly hub. Ever since the city launched its asset licensing regime in 2023, traders have gradually gained access to more cryptocurrencies. With XRP joining Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana in the official platforms, this new addition reflects the growing commitment to digital assets and the industry’s involvement.

OSL Becomes First Licensed Exchange in Hong Kong to Offer Retail XRP Trading

OSL HK launched XRP trading on July 29being the first SFC-licensed exchange in Hong Kong to open the service to the public. Flash Trade is now available for the XRP/USD pair, and the exchange offers over-the-counter (OTC) trading in XRP/USD and XRP/HKD. Customers can make deposits and withdraw directly from the XRP network.

In the past, traders were the only professionals who could trade XRP images on OSL. By removing that restriction, the platform now accepts retail users, who are operating under the Hong Kong system.

OSL Group, which is publicly traded on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange under the ticker 863, has SFC licenses in categories Type 1, Type 4, Type 7, and Type 9. The company received its Type 1 and Type 7 licenses in December 2020, making it the first stock trading platform in Hong Kong. It received a license to support retail investors in August 2023, the same time HashKey received a similar license.

This setup is also known for XRP’s long regulatory journey. Ripple spent years fighting with the US Securities and Exchange Commission whether XRP was an unregistered security. The legal battle is now over. Hong Kong’s decision to accept the trading of XRP on the official platform shows the willingness of the regulators to allow the commodity in the regulated market. However, regulatory approval does not guarantee anything about where the price of XRP is headed. Following the announcement, the price of XRP rose approximately 2.9% to $1.07 within the last 24 hours CoinGecko.

Hong Kong Expands Regulated Crypto Market As Interest Rate Continues

Hong Kong launched its licensing system for trading platforms in 2023 as part of a major plan to build a market driven by the digital economy. Since then, the number of cryptocurrencies open to wholesalers on these platforms has been growing. XRP now joins the small group of legitimate digital assets, along with Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solanaand a few others.

For traders, using a licensed platform means access to regulated trading with security, anti-money laundering checks, and SFC supervision. The move also increases competition, with OSL becoming the first in Hong Kong to launch an XRP trading platform.

Meanwhile, corporate interest in blockchain infrastructure continues to grow in Asia. Opinions of the company Japan SBI Holdings Limited to be changed again SBI Security Solutions as SBI Digital Practice, wants to strengthen its blockchain strategy. The restructured team will focus on corporate investment on the Canton Network, with a focus on supporting implementation, compliance, and cross-border operations.

SBI already acts as a Super Validator on the Canton Network and says this expansion fits well with its Ripple and XRP Ledger business. SBI Ripple Asia is not slowing down, possibly by continuing its payment and token use technology Ripple and XRP Ledger.

On top of its business function, XRP is the digital asset of the XRP Ledger, an open source blockchain designed for global payments and asset exchanges. Actions are fixed in 3 to 5 seconds, thanks to the cooperation that skips mines completely. The network can process up to 1,500 transactions per second, with XRP itself acting as a cross-border payment bridge and source of funds between various fiat currencies.
