UAE Flyers Can Book Flights With Crypto.com Pay

Dubai’s flag carrier has undergone a transformation. Emirates is it was officially established Crypto.com Pay, which allows customers to use a digital payment system on airline websites and software platforms. It makes Emirates the first major Gulf airline to accept cryptocurrency for flight bookings, and turns a 12-month paper contract into a payment button.

What exactly did Emirates do?

Customers with a Crypto.com booking account on emirates.com or the Emirates App can now select Crypto.com Pay at checkout, with the transaction processed in accordance with UAE regulations. The program is open to eligible UAE residents to be booked at rates and settled in Emirati Dirham (AED).

The release is a surrender of the contract that was signed a year ago. Emirates and Crypto.com signed a Memorandum of Understanding in July 2025 to explore integrating Crypto.com Pay into airline payment systems. One notable gap in the announcement: the accepted cryptocurrency is not registered, so the products available at checkout depend on the contents of the user’s Crypto.com wallet.

Adnan Kazim, Emirates Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, described it as a regular change, pointing to the younger travelers who “manage their finances and plan their trips mainly from their phones” and hope that the flights will run.

How does paying for Emirates flight with crypto work?

Speed is divided by device. On mobile, customers who book through the Emirates App are pushed into the Crypto.com app to complete the payment from their wallet, then redirected to the Emirates App to confirm the booking and e-ticket. On the desktop, they choose Crypto.com Pay on the payment step, scan the QR code displayed on the booking page and accept the payment in the Crypto.com application, after which a confirmation and e-ticket are presented on the screen.

No card, no bank transfer, no wallet address. It works like any other QR code payment, which is the point.

Why is the Central Bank license important here?

This is the stage where the main part of the journey continues. The integration is managed by Dubai-based Crypto.com, the first Virtual Asset Service Provider to be granted a Stored Value Facilities (SVF) license by the Central Bank of the UAE, and operates within the SVF framework. emirates

In other words, this is not a closed crypto payment system on the side of a managed business. It sits within the financial plumbing of the UAE, under the supervision of the Central Bank. That’s why the plane of its size was ready to put it in front of the customers at all. The same license, issued in May, already allows UAE nationals to pay government fees with digital products.

What does this mean for crypto adoption in the UAE?

The government policy is doing a lot of work. The implementation supports the Dubai Cashless Strategy under the D33 Economic Agenda, which targets 90% of all financial transactions in the public and private sector to be digital by the end of 2026. It also builds the digital payments partnership of the Emirates and Dubai Finance, and follows the separate agreement of Crypto.com and Dubai Finance on payments for public services.

For Crypto.com, the value proposition is distribution rather than quantity. Eric Anziani, the company’s president and COO, called the Emirates deal an important step for Pay’s business. Airline tickets and passenger tickets, fast shopping, and Emirates cargo plane exchange crypto at checkout in a way that a hundred small business combinations can’t.

Bear is easy: The stability of AED means that the crypto leg is a currency rail, not a currency. Users spend digital currency, Emirates receives dirhams. That’s the model that made cryptocurrencies compatible with the card, and why it won’t move the price of anything.

However, for a group that has spent a decade promising payments and providing simulations, the payment button at one of the world’s largest companies is a real data center.
