- He says crypto should focus on good public use cases, and avoid political gain.
- He also accused crypto-friendly lawmakers of being opportunistic and not really interested in the technology.
November’s highly anticipated midterms are ready to bring a new wave of legislation to Washington for the first time—including, perhaps, America’s first crypto developer-turned-congressman.
Joe Schiarizzia long time Ethereum developer, kicked off his campaign Thursday for the Democratic House race in DC, Virginia. Schiarizzi plans to run for Virginia’s 7th district, where, pending a statewide vote, he could stay. to draw again at the end of this month and left without an employee.
Although digital companies have established a great availability in Washington following the return of President Donald Trump to power last year, Schiarizzi represents a new type of crypto candidate: who is a clear opponent of the president, but also has the experience of a person to create the types of decentralized tools that are now heavily debated in Congress.
30-year-old Virginia has previously worked at major crypto companies including Ethereum software giant Consensys (Disclosure: One of many investors in independent speech Decrypt), Ethereum-based public asset Gitcoin, and NFT market OpenSea. He says that crypto was originally created, after the financial crisis of 2008, as a tool to represent corporate interests and increase the rights of workers.
Technology needs to go back to those roots, Schiarizzi said, rather than being popular compatible and the self-promotion of the Trump family through many crypto businesses.
“This is the most corrupt administration in American history, and we need to respond quickly,” Schiarizzi said. Decrypt.
The Ethereum programmers think crypto should embrace the use of cases starting from the money of solar energy farms and tokens of renewable tokenized-something Schiarizzi alone has done-to allow American to pay doctors privately, on-chain, to ensure access to any kind of medical care.
“These are things that I think most Americans can get behind, and they have nothing to do with financial fraud as the president has implemented,” he said.
The most corrupt government we’ve ever had in multiple jurisdictions.
I no longer sell equities and futures because the markets are linked to hedgefunds linked to Trump family members. https://t.co/c8j9cJf7nT

Schiarizzi also opposes the new crop of pro-crypto lawmakers serving in Congress in both parties. It is said that such politicians are only saying that they support these companies because they want to be supported or to avoid angering the big cryptocurrencies. top PACs which has lost hundreds of millions of dollars recently US elections.
“The money could go to Republicans who are taking away our freedoms and don’t believe in privacy,” Schiarizzi said, “or it could go to real developers who want to use new technology to improve the lives of real Americans.”
“They just want a check and they don’t understand the good that these technologies can do for our people if they are managed properly,” he added.
If elected, Schiarizzi said he will lead crypto policies that benefit small projects and everyday users, including simple tax requirements and legal exemptions for common crypto tools. They will also push to expand the types of reserves allowed to back dollar stablecoins to include municipal bonds that can fund hospitals and schools.
Schiarizzi is the leader of the “YIMBY” movement in northern Virginia, and believes that housing development in America is an urgent need. High home ownership costs are “destroying the social fabric,” he said.
The path to crypto in Washington is far from certain. Already, several Democratic candidates have lined up to run for Virginia’s new 7th district, if it happens, including minister of statea a government representativeand a woman of the former governor.
But Scharizzi is the only one in the group who will let you in here give to his campaign BitcoinEthereum, Fartcoin, USDC– and even, yes Trump meme coin.
