A shopkeeper has admitted stealing more than $15,000 in cash from a rental company’s bottle and calling the police to cover up what he did.
Office of the United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania he says Nicole Hilstolsky, 48, pleaded guilty to one count of theft by a credit union employee after she stole $16,247 from a WOD Federal Credit Union cash drawer in 2018.
Court records show that after stealing the cash, Hilstolsky called 911 to report that two armed men had robbed the lender and taken security cameras.
Instead, he hid the money somewhere inside the mortgage until he had access to the money a few days later.
He says Assistant US Attorney James M. Buchanan, as reported by ABC affiliate WNEP-TV,
“Nothing happened. (Hilstolsky) took out the money order, took out the security camera and hid the stuff and lied to the police and the FBI.
Prosecutors say Hilstolsky used the money to pay off his debts.
Hilstolsky pleaded guilty in 2025 when he was caught stealing $950 from his employer at the time, UFCW Credit Union in Wyoming.
He has been sentenced to eight months in prison and two years of supervised release.
