Danmarks Ishockey Union (DIU), the governing body of ice hockey in Denmark, has named Concordium as the Official AI Partner of the Danish National Ice Hockey Team in a partnership based on blockchain-based digital identity and artificial intelligence infrastructure.
The agreement will be officially launched at the 2026 IIHF World Ice Hockey Championship in Switzerland and will include a number of technology-related measures aimed at improving fan engagement through AI-driven systems and chain-of-custody.
Concordium, which describes itself as a class-leading AI platform powered by blockchain technology, said the partnership will be a true demonstration of how digital authentication and AI assistants can work at a consumer-facing level.
A fan program guaranteed to start at the IIHF Championship
The agreement between the DIU and the Concordium will focus on the two initiatives developed on the basis of the Concordium.
The first is the Verified Fan Program designed to display personal preferences using anonymous authentication technology.
The system is designed to allow users to verify information about their identity while minimizing the exposure of personal information.
The second option is the Agentic Commerce pilot, which aims to demonstrate how AI-certified agents can work autonomously by interacting with fans and digital commerce systems.
This work is in line with Concordium’s previous work on the x402 payment system, which focuses on enabling secure and reliable systems.
“Businesses that operate at scale need reliable data they can transport and rails they can trust,” said Varun Kabra, Chief Growth Officer at Concordium.
“Existing infrastructure. What was missing is a valid, place where a large audience can see it in action. We are very happy to partner with the Danish Ice Hockey team to find a solution where AI can provide the highest quality information.”
The DIU said the agreement was formed based on a long-term technical cooperation rather than a traditional service offering.
“We approached this in the same way we approach any major partnership, starting with what we can build together, not what will fit the jersey,” said Michael Dupont, CEO of Danmarks Ishockey Union. “Concordium is a Swiss-made AI foundation and controller. The software developed during the collaboration is the kind of work that fits the way Danish hockey wants to be seen.”
The relationship was completely rooted in CCD symptoms
As part of the agreement, the Concordium logo will appear on the caps and jerseys of the Danish national team, along with a special group on digital products during the agreement.
The organizations also stated that all the funds of the agreement were fully established in CCD, the blockchain token of Concordium.
According to the announcement, the agreement represents the first peer-to-peer agreement that is fully funded and locked into a protocol token.
The transaction was established on-chain at signing, while the 12-month lock-in period was established directly at the protocol level.
DIU will retain the right to maintain digital assets under this arrangement.
The transparency of international competition facilitates the transparency of cooperation
The partnership will be launched ahead of the 2026 IIHF World Championship, where Denmark’s national team is expected to be televised around the world.
Games involving the Danish team are broadcast in Sweden, Finland, Germany, Switzerland, Canada, and the United States via networks including Viaplay, ZDF, ARD, TSN, and ESPN.
According to the organizations, the 2025 IIHF World Championship generated 215 million television viewers and 25.6 billion events in 155 events.
The DIU noted that Denmark has become a stable country for international hockey, hosting the IIHF World Championships in eight years, including the men’s championship in 2018 and 2025, and the women’s championship in 2022 and 2026.
