  • Binance launched Pre-IPO Perpetual Contracts, starting with SpaceX-linked futures on Binance Futures.
  • Contracts are designed to allow qualified users to sell their expected income before private companies start their market.

Binance it goes to one of the most watched trends in the financial world: pre-IPO pricing. The exchange announced a new class of perpetual futures contracts which will allow qualified users to trade market expectations around top quality companies before listing publicly.

SpaceX becomes the first future IPO site

The first product will be SPCXUSDT Pre-IPO Perpetuallinked to the expected market value of Space Exploration Technologies Corp., better known as SpaceX. The contract will be reduced and fixed USDTbringing a popular system of crypto derivatives to an area that is often dominated by institutional funds, private funds and secondary market traders.

The product does not provide users with actual shares of SpaceX. That difference is important. Instead, it provides traders with exposure to expected price movements before and around the stock market. Ahead of the IPO, Binance said contracts are expected to display publicly available price signals, including announced versions and final offering prices. Once the company becomes publicly traded, the partnership can transition to a live market.

Shunyet Jan, Binance’s Head of Spot and Derivatives Business, introduced the launch as part of the open access.

“Pre-IPO perpetual futures is another example of how Binance is democratizing market access by combining crypto-native infrastructure with major financial events,” he said.

Crypto rails are subject to market speculation

The appeal is clear. Pre-IPO markets attract a lot of attention, but acquisitions are often limited. Large traders often appear first, while retail traders wait until public trading begins, sometimes after most of the money has already started.

Binance is trying to turn that waiting period into a stock market. Perpetual futures allow for price volatility, volatility, and liquidity, in theory. They also introduce familiar risks: volatility, currency rates, divestment and the possibility that expectations differ significantly from the incoming IPO prices.

Jan said Binance aims to be “the most advanced financial platform” offering access to opportunities that have been hard to come by. That desire is evident here. The product goes beyond the traditional crypto-economy and has market sentiment surrounding the traditional industry.

If the IPO is delayed or canceled, Binance said it will provide notice of cancellation and implement contracts through a transparent process. The real test will be whether traders see these contracts as useful tools for finding value, or as just another high beta speculative environment around popular companies.
