Iran’s headquarters in Khatam al-Anbiya Central announced on June 20, 2026, that the Strait of Hormuz is closed due to the number of ships. The order cited violations of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding with the United States and Israel.
This announcement is in direct opposition to the recent trend of lowering and bringing back risks to the global oil supply at a time when markets have fallen in price.

Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central, which coordinates the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps with the regular army, issued the statement through state media.
It said the closure was the “first step” in responding to violations of the ceasefire agreement. The order warned that other measures would follow if the violence continued.
