USDe Finds a Path to Aladdin Institutions

USDe is one of the largest dollar-denominated tokens, with close to $4.5 billion as of June 29. It holds its own with a delta-neutral strategy in which pairs beat Ether (ETH) and short-term futures. This design is based on the A picture of the Athena dollar.

The new financial center will link BUIDL with USDe and USDtb in the transaction. It builds on previous work with Securitize that enabled periodic exchanges between the fund and Athena tokens.

Athena’s ENA token rose on the news, rising nearly 10% after the news, with the token near $0.0811 as of this writing.

However, the USDe still carries a regulatory burden. In April 2025, Germany BaFin ordered Athena to issue USDe. It was the first action taken by regulators under the EU’s MiCA legislation.

Whether Aladdin’s institutions will distribute USDe, rather than just manage it, will be the clear test in the coming weeks.
