The Ethereum Foundation (EF) invested $46.2 million worth of Ether (ETH), according to data from Arkham Intelligence. Booking is one of the biggest part of the organization.
The transaction marks a major step up in the Foundation’s wealth management plan, which was launched in late February with an initial deposit of 2,016 ETH worth approximately $3.8 million.
EF Withdraws From Initial Deposit To Record Stake
EF announced its plans on February 24, 2026, stating a target of around 70,000 ETH.
The initial booking was limited, but the Foundation signed from the start that further distribution would follow.
Pa current prices are close to $2,000 per ETHthe full goal of 70,000 ETH represents more than $140 million in stakes.
The $46.2 million funding Arkham announced today brings the program closer to that goal.
On-chain tracker Lookonchain too known the work, realizing that it surpassed all previous EF events by a margin.
Why Foundations Are Holding Instead of Selling
Over the years, EF relied on periodic ETH sales to support operations, a practice that drew constant criticism from the community.
Each sale creates a price drop and creates a sense of long-term commitment to the organization.
The staking change addresses both concerns.
- By locking ETH into legal tender, the Foundation creates productivity without reducing its capital.
- Staking rewards go back to the Treasury to support protocol research, ecosystem development, and community support.
The program uses open source tools from Attestant, acquired by Bitwise Asset Management in 2024. The architecture uses distributed signing in multiple locations and a limited number of authorized clients to reduce a single point of failure.
Ethereum currently has over 38 million ETH dirty about 1.17 million approved, which represents about 30% of all products in circulation.
A Symbol of Strength in Troubled Times
Reports arrive at the time of a ETH price change. Prices fell sharply in early 2026, from a high of $4,800 in late 2025 to a low of around $1,473 in February.
Co-founder Vitalik Buterin sold millions in ETH assets at the time, fueling the community’s concerns.
In contrast, the Foundation’s willingness to donate its largest donation sends another signal.
Instead of keeping more money, the organization is tying money directly into network security.
Whether additional deposits follow at this pace will see how quickly EF reaches 70,000 ETH for the purpose of the amount of productivity it will bring forward.
