In a recent post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Zcash Dev has revealed that the Zcash testnet is being updated for the Ironwood upgrade tomorrow. According to a post shared on X, the update has two related systems, including the Valar Group and the Zcash Foundation. However, the Valar version of the formation of the alliance is passing scrutiny.

In a recent statement, Shielded Labs, an independent, non-profit Swiss Association, confirmed that the Zcash Ironwood upgrade is progressing as planned, as security is its own. The agency is also working with its partners to test and conduct research to ensure the security of the update before its final deployment on the mainnet.

According to the official ETA, the Ironwood upgrade is expected to take place on the mainnet in late July 2026 at 3,417,100, following the delisting of zcashd.

Ironwood is a major network upgrade designed to create a new secure pool, which will give users the ability to independently verify the integrity of Zcash’s surrounding assets. This upgrade builds on top of Orchard’s privacy policy by introducing new updates, authentication for anonymous forums, independent security audits, and more. The main focus of Ironwood’s promotion is the “turnstile” method of accounting.

Ironwood’s goal is to restore the ability of every Zcash user to verify the integrity of Zcash. This certainty was undermined by the existence of the threat of fraud. Once activated, users will be able to verify that Zcash is running successfully, just by running a node. “

The update is scheduled for July to coincide with the end of support for the main zcashd client. When the Ironwood upgrade begins, the existing Orchard pool will close to new deposits and other internal activities.

Apart from this, users’ money moves through channels to the Ironwood pool. Turnstile is a cryptographic validation process. This will allow anyone who owns a node to automatically calculate the pool balance to verify the total amount of resources, which will provide a strong guarantee against unknown false positives.

Zcash’s 4 Years of Scams Shake Users’ Trust

Ironwood’s upgrade comes after a major fictitious bug was discovered in May within Zcash’s Orchard security pool. The virus has been in the security pool for about 4 years. The problem was very serious because it would have allowed the attacker to generate unlimited fake ZEC tokens without being detected. If misused, this bug could compromise the integrity of the network, which is a major part of Zcash’s privacy.

When the problem came to light, the developers implemented an emergency soft fork to disable all vulnerable activities. After that, they will use a hard fork to set up a project. No exploitation was reported by any user. However, Zooko confirmed that the bug

he said“There are a number of reasons why we are not overly concerned that the theft occurred before the threat was resolved.”

However, the community quickly took action when the problem came to light and took steps to protect all online users.

“Although no one wants to know that there is a problem like this, we have faith that Zcash is well enough to recover.

The problem has caused panic among ZEC token holders. Just 48 hours after the threat appeared, the ZEC token dropped by 50%, falling from the high of $600 to $255. However, so far, ZEC is showing signs of recovery amid the excitement surrounding the Ironwood upgrade. At the time of writing, ZEC is trading at around $434 million with a market capitalization of around $7.26 billion, according to CoinMarketCap price.
