AssuranceAmerica, an insurance-related company that manages customer profiles, has uncovered major incidents affecting millions of customers.
The Atlanta-based company confirms a cybersecurity attack that affected the license information of 6.9 million people, reports Results TechCrunch.
In a notice to customers, AssuranceAmerica he says an unauthorized party entered its systems, access files and stole customer data, including contact information, car insurance policy or insurance account data, driving records or vehicle, claims and driver’s license numbers.
“On March 17, 2026, the company became aware of suspicious activity related to some of the Company’s systems that appeared to be the result of malicious activity that affected one of the company’s employees on March 16, 2026. The company immediately began to investigate and contact computer experts to determine what happened and what affected the company’s IT environment and copied some data files.”
In the meantime, AssuranceAmerica says it has taken steps to harden its network security to prevent this from happening in the future, and is sending an emergency notification to affected customers. The company also said it has been in contact with law enforcement agencies.
The company urges customers to monitor any suspicious activity related to their bank accounts and financial statements.
