“Funds have been reduced to what they once were, the general responsibility of the accounting department.”
— Stefano Gogioso, A Quantum Moneyfest

In Star Trekit took only seconds to travel from the Starship Enterprise to the nearest planet.

The crew simply entered the Transporter, which removed them into energy (accurate to the quantum level) and beamed them into a space where the energy was converted into matter so that the person could be reassembled.

But is the person who shines behind them the same one who has been brought down?

The accepted answer, in nature, is that it is one. The consciousness of the transported crew remains intact, they say, thanks to the perfection of the Transporter’s quantum-level scanning and reconstruction.

As evidence, he cites colleagues who remember being on the trip.

But we’ve learned how quantum-level motion works, and it doesn’t.

In quantum teleportation, first was discovered in 1993the only thing being teleported is information.

Teleporting, let’s say, a qubit, requires that the original number of the qubit be destroyed: By the laws of physics, the accumulation of real information on the quantum world destroys its higher state, thereby destroying it.

But the collected data can be sent as primitive data (ones and zeros) on a satellite or fiber optic cable and then, thanks to the magic of physics, it is collected (from other particles) at its destination.

So the unfortunate truth is that the Transporter on the Starship Enterprise can be activated by killing its passengers – the crew that went down is not the one that was revived.

This has scientific implications for the future of money.

In banking, the way money is “sent” from Bank A to Bank B is that Bank A removes a number from its spreadsheet and sends a message to Bank B instructing them to add the same number to theirs.

Only the message is sent, not the money – that’s why we need banks: to exchange messages about our money.

I am quantum moneyhowever, the currency sends its own messages.

Quantum currency is the idea that value can be represented by a number of particles and transferred via quantum teleportation.

“The most important thing to understand here is that the amount (of money) is like a resource, not like data,” Fabrizio Genovese he explained in an email.

Where a bank deposit is a financial information and Bitcoin is a unified record representing money, more money can be that money – an unattractive atom, photon, or molecule. and money.

Not a lot of money but a source of money.

This is useful because it can allow money to be stored and managed according to the unbreakable rules of superposition, entanglement and no-cloning theorem.

In other words, physics may one day do what databases and distributed ledgers do now, but without a database or a distributed ledger.

So Quantum money can have the advantage of saving physical money: You can save as much money in a hardware device as you save money in your wallet.

This would make currency exchange both permissionless (no intermediary required) and private (no ledger).

But quantum money will also have portable digital currency property: Spending money on your device creates a transferable information that needs to be generated again on another device, even if it is far away.

(There is a time when the quantum state, passing as primitive data, does not exist – which proves that Star Trek The transporter is a suicide machine.)

Sending quantum money will be like sending physical money in the mail. But good, because it comes right away.

Sending money over long distances created the need for banks, but solving the problem created middlemen who now control almost all of our money.

Bitcoin, of course, is a way to make peer-to-peer trading possible over long distances.

But quantum money would be an irresistible way to do it.

“Blockchain transactions are not peer-to-peer,” Stefano Gogioso he says“because there is always a part of the process that can hinder your work. For economic, political, or technical reasons.”

Nothing will stop the quantum sale, for any reason.

There is one limitation, however: Contrast Star Trekwhere Captain Kirk could fly to a newly discovered planet, quantum money could be sent to a hardware device ready to receive it.

The device isn’t available yet, so the amount of funding isn’t yet available — we’re three to four years away from first iteration, according to Gogioso.

When it arrives, however, it will be the best way to send money.

Finding safety in quantum states, Genovese says, is like getting energy from the Sun: “It’s what nature gave us.”

As such, he hopes that all cybersecurity will eventually be done through a multi-state approach – including money.

We will still have to provide a value for the money, however, which would be a very difficult scam.

Building a container to teleport qubits is one thing; getting others to accept them as payment is another.
