Georgia health management company ApolloMD plans to pay $4.02 million to settle a lawsuit involving a data breach.
Agreement they pay people whose information and health were fraudulently compromised last year.
On May 22, 2025, unusual activity was detected on the company’s information technology, according to the lawsuit. The investigation found that an unauthorized person can access or access files containing information about patients treated by the firm’s doctors and medical services. Personal information may include names, dates of birth, addresses, medical information, provider names, dates of employment, medical information, health insurance information and Social Security numbers.
The lawsuit alleges inadequate security measures led to the conflict affecting thousands.
Notices of the data breach were sent to affected individuals in September 2025 and March 2026. Affected individuals have until September 30 to file a claim to receive compensation.
Settlement class members are eligible to receive up to $5,000 in written damages incurred as a result of the data breach. An additional $75 cash payment will also be issued, while regular class members will not be required to provide proof of losses. The deadline to object to the installation is August 31st. The final court hearing in this matter is set for October 5.
ApolloMD accepted the settlement without admitting fault.
