542,377 Americans Warned After Hackers Hit Firmcare Healthcare in New Jersey – Personal and Medical Records Now at Risk


A diagnostic testing company that provides testing and laboratory services to health care providers says it suffered a major cyber security breach that may have exposed the personal information of thousands of people.

According to the US Department of Health and Human Services, the violation of the New Jersey-based Centers Laboratory is report as “Hacking / IT Incident” and affected 542,377 people.

In a statement posted on its website, the company he says An unauthorized organization gained access to its systems and stole data that could include patients’ dates of birth, driver’s licenses or government identification, Social Security numbers, passport numbers, and health insurance and medical records.

“Centers learned of suspicious activity in its IT environment on August 25, 2025. After learning this, Centers quickly isolated the affected systems and initiated an investigation with the help of third-party forensic experts. Centers contacted third-party auditors to conduct a detailed review of the affected data to determine whether it was affected, and what was related to the incident, Centers reviewed the documents in detail to confirm information and continue providing information.

Centers Laboratory said it is now encouraging interested parties to take advantage of one free credit report per year from each of the three major credit reporting agencies: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. Meanwhile, the company says it has tightened its security measures related to privacy and security to prevent future incidents.
