113,330 Americans Affected After ‘Unauthorized Third Party’ Breaches Healthcare Firm, Trove of Personal, Financial and Medical Data at Risk


A security incident involving a health care provider in Colorado has put the personal information of thousands of Americans at risk.

In a letter to concerned parties, Western Orthopedics, PC (Western Ortho) states that between September 17, 2025 and September 25, 2025, another unauthorized person he found and found some content in his network. The company says it became aware of the incident on October 2, 2025.

Western Ortho then took steps to secure its network and conducted an investigation with the help of a network security contractor and outside cyber security experts.

The analysis, which ended on March 3rd, showed that the incident compromised patient data, including full names and addresses; phone numbers; Social Security numbers; birthdays; financial accounts and credit/debit card numbers with or without a required security number, login number or password.

The incident also disclosed protected health-related information, including health insurance information, health insurance plan or enrollee identification numbers, hospital names, dates of service and medical billing or payment information.

Western Ortho is offering affected individuals free credit monitoring and data protection services although the company says it has not found any signs of theft or fraud related to the stolen data.

The human rights office at the United States Department of Health and Human Services said that 113,330 people were affected by the violation of the law.
