27,076 People Alerted After ‘Unauthorized Third Party’ Breaches Wealth Management Firm – Names, Bank Account Numbers and More at Risk


A security breach that compromised the computers of a Wisconsin financial firm has put the personal information of 27,076 people at risk.

In a notice dated May 29th, KerberRose Wealth Management informs those affected by security event which was found on May 1st.

The company says an “unauthorized person” accessed an employee’s email account, which allowed the perpetrator to gain access to a storage facility used to manage the company’s finances.

KerberRose says she took immediate action to end the incident. It also sought the help of a law enforcement agency to identify those involved and what was found.

Depending on the investigation, personal information disclosed may include names, addresses, Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, bank account information and dates of birth.

Affected individuals include KerberRose’s wealth management clients as well as enrollees and participants in the company’s sponsored retirement plans. Other systems and business units are not affected.

KerberRose says it is offering free help to victims of theft.
