New information suggests that thousands of people have been affected after hackers attacked a healthcare company and obtained patient information.
According to the US Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights, Utah-based Rocky Mountain Associated Physicians recently. report The hacking incident that affected 50,640 people, is a breach that affects a web server.
In another report, HIPAA Journal he says A forensic investigation determined on February 2, 2026 that an unauthorized actor had access to certain systems, including a database containing protected information about current and former patients.
According to the report, the compromised information may have included names, dates of birth, identification numbers, Social Security numbers, medical record numbers, medical information and health insurance information. For some individuals, the disclosed data may also include financial information such as credit and debit card numbers and PINs.
The HIPAA Journal also reported that a ransom group claimed responsibility for the attack and blacklisted the group after the ransom was not paid, which it said was published online.
In response to the incident, the company said it has engaged third-party cybersecurity experts to investigate the breach and implement additional security measures to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
Affected individuals are being notified of the incident and have been assigned surveillance and theft protection services.
