Amazon Prime customers who may be eligible for compensation from the company’s $2.5 billion settlement with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) have until Monday, July 27, to file a claim.
The settlement ends a 2023 FTC lawsuit that accused Amazon of pushing millions of customers to sign up for Prime without proper authorization and creating unnecessary obstacles for users who want to cancel, reports Yahoo! Finances.
Amazon has denied wrongdoing, but agreed to pay $1.5 billion in restitution to customers and $1 billion in fines.
Some Prime users have already received automatic payments in November and December 2025. But customers who are not automatically paid may still be eligible for compensation if they meet the requirements.
Eligible customers may have received notification by mail or e-mail.
To qualify, a customer must have been a US Amazon Prime member who signed up at one of the affected registration sites or attempted to cancel Prime online between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025.
The affected sign-up process includes Amazon’s Prime options page, delivery options page, opt-out page and Prime Video subscription.
Customers must also have used three or fewer benefits in each of the 12 months after signing up.
Eligible candidates can apply through the official website or contact the fund manager via email.
Eligible customers can earn up to $51, with payment methods including check, PayPal or Venmo.
Amazon expects to ship the payment by the end of 2026, although the payment date has not been announced.
