A former Bank of America employee has been accused of stealing thousands of dollars from two elderly customers while working at a branch in Nashville, Tennessee.
Karl Stephen Richardson was arrested earlier this week and charged with credit card fraud, exploitation of an elderly person and identity theft. reports WKRN photos.
Bank of America reportedly sued the Metro Nashville Police Department in February.
Police say Richardson stole approximately $70,932 from an 86-year-old woman, with whom he became close friends. Between April 11th 2022 and April 13th this year, Richardson made more than 100 unauthorized transactions from the 86-year-old’s account, including Zelle transfers, ATM and withdrawals.
Richardson also made illegal withdrawals from the 86-year-old’s bank account after he left the bank in November 2025.
He is also accused of stealing approximately $68,400 from a 75-year-old woman. Between July 25 and November 21, 2025, police say Richardson made 19 over-the-counter withdrawals totaling more than $60,000 from the 75-year-old’s account and gave the woman more. He also made ATM withdrawals of approximately $8,000 from his account without his consent between September 12 and October 8, 2025.
Richardson was charged with two counts of financial exploitation of an elderly person, two counts of computer fraud, theft of personal information, theft and credit card fraud.
