Cardano, a decentralized blockchain platform, has officially enabled Protocol Version 11 via Van Rossem hard fork. This makes it the first network upgrade to be fully approved by the community through an onchain vote
The upgrade also brings faster, cheaper smart contracts, giving developers powerful tools to build on the blockchain.
Cardano Launches Its First On-Chain Platform Driven By Hard Fork
Cardano also launched the Van Rossem hard fork, upgrading the network to Protocol Version 11 (PV11).
Unlike previous updates, this marks the first Cardano fork to be fully approved through onchain authority. The request was voted on by the Representative Representatives (DReps), Stake Pool Operators (SPOs), and the Constitutional Committee (CC) under the new system of governance of Cardano that was introduced during Conway’s tenure.
After a successful launch, Intersect, the organization responsible for the management of Cardano, confirmed that the update has been made on the mainnet.

Intersect announced, thanking environmental partners, developers, stakeholders, DReps, SPOs, and members of the Constitutional Committee who helped complete the successful reform.
What’s new in Protocol Version 11?
Protocol Version 11 is primarily focused on making Cardano smarter, faster, and more efficient for developers who implement applications (DApps).
The update brings a number of changes, including:
- New features of the Plutus smart contract are introduced through Cardano Improvement Proposals (CIPs).
- The low cost of smart contracts are expensive models.
- Faster processing using new cases for Boolean, Integer, and Data types.
- Additional cryptographic services, including support for BLS12-381.
- Improved consistency across Plutus V1, V2, and V3, allowing developers to use the same features in all versions.
- Strong ledger rules and network security.
According to Intersect, the test did not show a change in performance after the renovation, while the safety research confirms the safety of the new Plutus products and valuable models.
The design interface is also flexible, making it easy to adapt to existing applications.
The Upgrade Opens the Door to Cardano’s Next Phase
Beyond improving today’s networks, Protocol Version 11 also lays the foundation for technology Cardano is Dijkstra’s upcoming era, where technological innovation is expected.
Intersect’s Hard Fork Working Group recommended the hard fork in June, and it was later approved by its Technical Management Committee before receiving enough regulatory votes to move forward.
Before opening, Cardano’s rules required that at least 85% of the workstations be upgraded to compatible software, ensuring that the network is running smoothly.
Following the successful rally, ADA saw a market trend, rising to around $0.1649.
