The US government lifted its export ban on Anthropic’s Claude Mythos 5 on Friday. This decision sets the precedent for the release of more than 100 US organizations, including large companies and government agencies.
The move reverses a two-week standoff between the Trump administration and Anthropic. It charges for Mythos 5 and leaves Fable 5, the consumer version, unconnected.
Commerce Removes Claude Mythos 5 for Trusted Partners
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick made the decision in a letter Friday to Anthropic chief computing officer Tom Brown. Authorization is no longer required to export Mythos 5 to organizations listed in Annex A.

Anthropic officials flew to Washington to meet with federal officials during the standoff, according to Price CNBC.
