GoMining is mining the first Stratum V2 Bitcoin block using the DMND pool

  • GoMining is mining the first Stratum V2 Bitcoin block with a DMND pool.
  • Stratum V2 enables miners to decide on block transactions directly.
  • The new system transfers power from pools to miners to mine Bitcoin.

GoMining has mined the first known Bitcoin block created using the Stratum V2 protocol with the DMND Bitcoin mining pool.

This method shows the creation of a block controlled by a miner in a live mining environment.

The tool was developed using Stratum V2’s Job Declaration functionality through the DMND pool.

This approach allowed GoMining to create and declare its own block template instead of relying on the mining pool to decide.

Pool-driven selection has been a major trend in Bitcoin mining for years.

This event marks the first implementation of Stratum V2’s miner-driven architecture and represents an empowering change for miners in the way blocks are built while still remaining a part of the mining process.

The construction of blocks controlled by mining is shown in the production

The tool included features linked to GoMining’s GoBTC Pay, an open-source Bitcoin instant payment system developed by the company.

By integrating the GoBTC Pay event into the block template that was created, GoMining demonstrated how to use Stratum V2’s Job Declaration feature and demonstrated how workers can affect the content of the blocks that help create them.

“This block shows that miners can now participate in mining while still maintaining the power to build blocks,” said Mark Zalan, CEO at GoMining. “For years, mining has been determining which currencies are included in Bitcoin blocks. By creating our block template and integrating GoBTC Pay transactions, we are demonstrating the capabilities that Stratum V2 makes possible.”

The success of block mining provides an example of how miners can gain autonomy while continuing to benefit from the shared resources and economics of mining pools.

Stratum V2 aims to increase mining participation and flexibility

Stratum V2 is an open source mining system developed with contributions from several participants in the Bitcoin industry.

In addition to improvements in security and efficiency, the protocol enables miners to create their own block templates while still working on integrated mining.

Recent developments have shown that managed mining infrastructure can work in production environments, which could facilitate the adoption of Stratum V2 across the mining community.

The deployment also shows how the protocol will allow miners to integrate their work and services directly into the blockchain.

“A miner has just drilled the first block of Stratum V2 to liquidate his assets. GoMining announced direct and integrated their GoBTC Pay without a pool. We created DMND to achieve this.” said Alejandro De La Torre, CEO & Co-founder at DMND.

The big event comes as the bitcoin mining industry continues to explore technologies that improve efficiency, security and decentralization.

By demonstrating that miners can create and publish their own templates while remaining part of the mining pool, GoMining and DMND have provided an early example of how the Stratum V2 architecture can revolutionize block creation and decision making within the Bitcoin mining ecosystem.
