Hundreds of thousands of people have been affected by the incident at the hospital in the US.
According to the new reservation and the Maine Attorney General, the attacks targeting the Tennessee-Cookeville Regional Medical Center (CRMC) affected 337,917 people, including 22 Maine residents.
The healthcare company said it learned on July 14, 2025 that it had been the victim of a ransomware attack. After discovering the breach, CRMC says it launched an internal investigation, secured the system and contacted law enforcement. The company also said it had hired a law enforcement firm to help with the investigation, which ended on March 16.
The company says it discovered that an unauthorized group accessed its computer network and viewed or accessed files between July 11, 2025 and July 14, 2025.
A health care company he says that the breach exposed patient information, including full names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, medical information, health insurance information and financial account information.
Cookeville Regional Medical Center said it is sending notification letters to all patients whose personal information is believed to have been compromised. The company is also offering one year of free maintenance services.
CRMC says it has taken steps to try and prevent future data breaches, including “strengthening our technical security.”
