MoonPay is bringing its AI crypto assistant to Telegram, allowing users to interact with them MoonAgents via the messaging platform, the company announced on Thursday.
According to MoonPay Agents Product Lead, Kevin Arifin, the integration builds on the company MoonAgents on the desktop by giving users access to their AI assistant when they are away from their computer.
“A computer program is tied to your computer, but sometimes you want to trade on the go or scan while you’re on the go,” Arifin said. Decrypt in conversation. “Telegraph integration is the way to do that.”
Similar to OpenClaw and Helper of HermesMoonAgents uses Telegram as an interface for users to interact with an AI agent. Arifin said users create a custom bot through BotFather, connect to the MoonAgents desktop software, and can ask an agent to analyze markets, plan events, and monitor blockchain services. Although many cryptocurrency sites use Telegram to communicate, Arifin said that Telegram was chosen not because of its popularity among crypto users.
“The reason we chose Telegram as the first integration of the Moon Agents desktop app is that not all cryptocurrencies use it,” Arifin said. “They provide the best interface for creating a new bot,” he said, noting that other messaging platforms create more conflicts, pointing to the additional setup required to integrate with services such as WhatsApp or iMessage.
According to Arifin, I have an assistant projects such as OpenClaw and Hermes Agent have also influenced MoonAgents by showing how AI agents work outside of traditional social networks.
“I think OpenClaw redefined what LLMs can look like, especially with LLMs that you can use on your computer,” Arifin said.
Although Telegram offers features, Arifin said MoonAgents is designed so that users don’t have to rely on the messaging platform to find their agent.
“I think the biggest part of this is the focus of the Moon Agents Desktop App is that everything is saved on your computer, so even if Telegram closes tomorrow and you can no longer take your agent on the go, all your conversations are still on your computer,” Arifin said. “You can continue to communicate with your agent through the Moon Agent Desktop App, and continue the conversation, like Telegram never existed.”
The news comes as crypto companies continue to develop infrastructure that allows AI agents to interact with digital assets and online services. In April, Gemini launched Agetic saleswhich allows users to integrate AI models, including ChatGPT and Claude, to implement marketing strategies using adaptive tools.
In June, Coinbase launched Coinbase for Agentsa tool that allows AI agents to trade crypto, make payments, and manage portfolios within user-defined limits. Also in June, Nous Research release desktop version of Hermes Agent, moving the open source AI agent from a linear tool to a standalone application.
