🏛️ Vanguard, Crypto’s Last Big Holdout, Is Hiring a Head of Digital Assets
Vanguard, the $11T asset manager that has spent years telling clients it doesn’t touch crypto, posted his first Digital Assets Topic. The position requires a senior to develop a multi-year digital roadmap covering tokenization, stablecoins, custody, and blockchain settlement, and represent the company with regulators.
For the most skeptical crypto name in the traditional financial world, doing a major job dedicated to this space is a real change. And Vanguard’s resistance was not trivial. When BlackRock, Fidelity, and Franklin Templeton rushed to Bitcoin ETFs in early 2024, Vanguard even refused to allow clients to invest in its business, calling Bitcoin an investment group that does not fit its long-term vision. That situation only began to soften last December, when it began allowing retail customers to sell third-party cryptocurrencies.
It is a recent sign that all the old walls are coming down. The institutionalization is now complete. Now let’s see if Vanguard users really want to be exposed to crypto…
🔒 Zcash Jumps 10% As Tachyon Exchange Approaches Its Fix False Alarms
Zcash rose more than 10% on Tuesday, briefly recapturing $500 for the first time since early June, after developers announced progress on mathematical proof that its upcoming secure pool is free of hidden bugs. The move came back overnight along with a huge sell-off in crypto.
The catalyst was Project Tachyon, Zcash’s expansion and privacy overhaul. Founder Zooko Wilcox said the group is close to confirming that its new “Ironwood” security pool is free of fraud threats, the same group of flaws that were exposed in June Orchard. The original problem, an apparently four-year-old problem, was published within days and appears to have never been used, but the secretive model of Zcash made it impossible to verify that no fake money was created, which sent ZEC down more than 40% in two days. Ironwood brings a secure pool and migration system that allows users to transfer funds from Orchard while ensuring that no hidden price increases have occurred, and is expected to be deployed this month, with an AI-assisted verification process that took several years to weeks.
Beyond fake proof, Tachyon aims to scale crypto transactions to thousands per second, an increase that the community compares to Solana’s Firedancer, and improve quantitative planning by removing onchain data that a future attacker could harvest. Secrets, growth, and quantitative resistance are combined in 2026. Now the market is waiting for the full confirmation that the initial error has not been eaten and the participants can look forward…
