MoonPay has introduced crypto purchases directly into ChatGPT, allowing users to create outbound links to purchase digital products, including Bitcoin, XRP images, Solanaand USDCdon’t leave out the OpenAI chatbot.
Friday, MoonPay he started a dedicated app in ChatGPT Software, allowing users to buy cryptocurrencies directly within the OpenAI chatbot. MoonPay joins the growing list of crypto-related apps on ChatGPT, including Kraken, OKX, CryptoAudit, and RealOpen.
While other apps in the ChatGPT store allow users to query blockchain data and prices, the MoonPay app allows users to buy crypto directly—and aims to educate consumers on the service.
“We’ve seen this with marketing and AI, where a lot of people are getting buying ideas within ChatGPT,” MoonPay Blockchain Engineer and Product Lead Kevin Arifin said. Decrypt. “Now people are starting to do financial research within ChatGPT, and it’s surprising to me that there hasn’t been a way to buy crypto in ChatGPT.”
In the app, users can ask ChatGPT about their favorite cryptocurrencies and ask the chatbot to buy the specified currency. ChatGPT will create a MoonPay exit link that takes the user to the MoonPay website for checkout. Know-Your-Customer (KYC) will process and link their wallet.

“It’s like a broker who sits next to you, not making financial recommendations, but educating you about the assets you’re buying. (That) makes ChatGPT the best place for that,” said Arifin. “Right now, it’s just giving you a shopping link to view, similar to Shopify, but in the long run we’ll see ChatGPT or these types of LLMs doing more than just giving you an outbound link.”
As Arifin explained, if the user has already gone through KYC to set up their MoonPay account, they won’t do it again.
“Just log in with your MoonPay account,” he said. “It will show that you are logged into your account, pay with the last payment method, then send to this address.”
The ChatGPT app is part of MoonPay’s push into AI-powered crypto tools.
Earlier this month, the company found AI trading startup Dawn Labs is launching Dawn CLI, a trading engine that turns English logic into market forecasting strategies. MoonPay also recently launched MoonAgents CardA real Mastercard that allows AI agents to hack stablecoins directly from crypto wallets to online retailers.
Arifin said the program was designed less for independent AI trading and more to help more consumers learn how crypto works through negotiation.
“Being able to talk in ChatGPT is a huge opener,” he said. “I think that’s what’s been missing.”
Although it’s simple, Arifin admitted that users within ChatGPT themselves are very specific to the OpenAI environment and the environment they choose to display, which is why they see AI clients coming as. OpenClaw and Hermes-to AI assistants it can run locally and communicate directly with the user’s machine – as the next important step.
According to Arifin, ChatGPT and other chatbots are a growing trend in crypto adoption.
“These programs, whether it’s ChatGPT, Claude—they’re the new gateway to the Internet,” said Arifin. “It’s when people don’t just search Google to find something, they search multiple times to understand what they’re trying to do.”
