Lawmakers hope to push for the crypto market this week but Democrats are blocking things, according to Senator Dave McCormick.
Speaking on Fox Business on Friday, the Republican senator said a vote should be held now.
“The Democrats are starting to think, ‘We don’t want him to win,'” McCormick said.
Writing on X today, he he added: “The time to delay is over. Bring the Clarity Act to the Senate for a vote and let every senator sign up. America needs clear laws that protect consumers and keep digital technology and jobs here at home.”
Lawmakers have been pondering the Clarity Act since last year, which would regulate cryptocurrencies. This bill has been unsuccessful this year, because bank officials have complained about stablecoin yields and morals.
A new document published last week prohibits senior citizens and their families from giving away or raising crypto – something that opposition lawmakers previously had.
Now, GOP lawmakers are hoping for support from Democrats to pass the bill. Bipartisan support for the bill exists even though lawmakers – such as senator Elizabeth Warren – have criticized the bill, to say it would allow President Donald Trump to make money from crypto, and profit from criminals.
The Democrats last week written a statement that the bill in its current form is weak.
Major institutions, including Fidelity and Goldman Sachs, as well as crypto lobby groups and politicians, have said that the modified currency works in its current state.
Democrats – and some Republicans – criticized President Trump’s crypto trading interests, and others point to conflicts of interest as his family has made money meme money and a decentralized financial protocol, World Liberty Financial.
Despite the fact that the Trump family is very involved in crypto, and the president is winning the office after receiving support from major crypto traders, the White House has always denied any wrongdoing by the president.
