Small businesses are suing the Trump administration over newly imposed tariffs under Section 301 of the Trade Act.
These challenges target jobs of 10 percent or 12.5 percent of economies from more than 60 countries, reports Axios.
The tax came into effect shortly after section 122 expired last week and aims to address the concerns of people forced into contract labour.
One complaint, brought by the Liberty Justice Center on behalf of perfumer Burlap & Barrel and watch retailer Collective Horology, alleges that officials set prices in advance and later made other economic excuses.
Another suit involves toymaker Learning Resources, which previously won a Supreme Court case to withdraw tax under emergency powers, along with a subsidiary and other entities.
Critics say the administration used the findings instead of determining how the countries’ practices harmed US trade as required by law.
Collective Horology co-founder Asher Rapkin said previous pricing had already cost the company $160,000 and is still making money back.
The company imports watches from Switzerland and has no other domestic manufacturing options.
Courts have rejected recent cost-cutting efforts by emergency officials, and cases involving section 122 are still on appeal.
The White House has not commented on the new filters, although officials have previously defended them as a response to unfair trade practices.
