Donald Trump has confirmed that UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer will resign, after he chose to block his government’s new North Sea oil licenses as the main reason for his political downfall.
In an article on Social Truth on Saturday, June 21, Trump wrote that Starmer “failed miserably” on two issues, migration and energy, forcing the UK to “open the North Sea oil.”
North Sea Ban Under Fire as Energy Bills Soar
The UK government he announced on November 26, 2025 that it will not issue new oil and gas exploration licenses. It turned out to be a huge asset to deal with. The move drew immediate criticism, and its political value has grown exponentially since then.
The ongoing US-Israeli conflict with Iran has caused confusion oil and gas flows across the Middle East and he started a major rise in UK electricity prices. Since the start of the dispute, Brent crude has risen from $73 a barrel to around $114 – while June gas futures on the Dutch TTF. to jump about 50%.
Ofgem it has been confirmed a 13% increase in the cost of household electricity since July. This raised annual fuel costs from £1,641 to £1,862, with gas costs up 24% and electricity up 5%.
Critics have argued that the North Sea ban is increasing Britain’s sensitivity to these fears. Even scholars from Oxford’s Smith School Notice that even in large parts of the North Sea it would save families alone between £16 and £82 a year. This is because any domestic fuel is sold at international market prices regardless of its source.
Starmer’s Rank Has Fallen
Trump was already there he told reporters that Starmer was a “good guy” but warned that he needed to “manage the ranks” and “start drilling”. Sunday’s post cleared up all the confusion.
Starmer’s politics were severely weakened following a heavy defeat in the local elections. It’s Andy Burnham guaranteed success for Makefield’s second election it didn’t help either. There are also around 100 Labor MPs who are calling for him to resign.
UK media reported on Sunday that an announcement was expected on Monday.
