Serviceaide has agreed to a $1.8 million settlement to settle claims stemming from 2024 that allegedly exposed patient information.
The settlement affects individuals whose information was compromised during a cybersecurity breach it’s done between Sept. 19 and Nov. 5th, 2024.
Serviceaide provides AI-powered digital solutions and works with organizations including Catholic Health, a New York-based healthcare system.
According to the lawsuit, the data breach exposed information about 480,000 people, including their Social Security numbers, medical records and health insurance information.
The plaintiffs allege that Serviceaide failed to implement security measures to protect sensitive information and prevent unauthorized access.
Under the settlement, eligible members will receive compensation for losses incurred. Those with written records related to the breach may be subject to reimbursement of up to $5,000 for costs such as fraud, bank fees, credit monitoring services and technical fees.
Those who didn’t destroy the documents instead could receive a total of about $50. Class members can submit a claim using this information portal.
Individual fees may increase or decrease depending on the number of claims submitted.
Serviceaide denies any wrongdoing but has agreed to settle the case to avoid further charges.
The deadline to submit a decision is Sept. 1st, 2026. Requests for withdrawal or opposition must be submitted by August 17, 2026, and final approval is scheduled for Sept. 16.
