Wells Fargo Refuses to Refund Florida Customers After $251,300 Stolen From Accounts: Report


Bank customers in South Florida lost a lot of money after falling for a scam involving fake bank representatives.

The victim, Randall Kahn, is said to have been contacted by people posing as Wells Fargo employees who provided credentials to convince him to withdraw large sums of money from multiple branches over several days. reports NBC Miami.

The instructions include having the rideshare driver take the money and depositing the money into a secure account.

Kahn allegedly followed the instructions, withdrawing $251,300 from nine branches in seven days.

“Really for me that’s all I’ve done for the last 25 years of my life. Taking care of my family, providing for my grandson.

The bank has refused to repay the loan, saying that proper procedures were followed for the business account and that large sums of money withdrawn from verified customers are common.

Officials recommend reporting these types of incidents to local police, the FBI and the FTC.
