A West Virginia woman has been arrested on 127 counts of fraud after she illegally took $18,000 from a crash victim’s bank account.
West Virginia State Police launched an investigation after the victim reported repeatedly withdrawing nearly $18,000 over several months, reports WSAZ photos.
Investigators traced the incident to 37-year-old Ashley Newsome of Lenore.
He is accused of obtaining the victim’s bank card details and using them to make withdrawals through his Cash App account.
police obtained arrest warrants for Newsome on 127 counts of fraudulent use of a communications device, as well as charges of wire fraud and computer fraud.
Newsome was arrested and arraigned in Mingo County Court and later released on bond.
