Luxembourg regulator gives Ripple CASP the green light

Luxembourg’s financial regulator has granted Ripple’s initial approval for a Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) license under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), the company confirmed on Tuesday.

Once fully approved, the license will enable Ripple to provide authorized crypto services to banks, fintech companies, and other businesses in all 30 countries of the European Economic Area (EEA) through a single passport control system.

CASP’s approval expands Ripple’s presence in Europe. The company already holds an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license in Luxembourg, which allows it to offer cross-border payments and electronic money services throughout the EEA.

Together, EMI and the upcoming CASP license are expected to support a common foundation for crypto asset and stablecoin payments across Europe.

The timeline for development is clear, with the transition deadline of July 1, when EU member states will begin to comply with the MiCA rules, coming soon.

According to Ripple, the joint regulatory approval will enable the company to provide “the entire crypto asset and stablecoin payments infrastructure” through a single agreement.

The company also said the approval positions it to expand its crypto services across Europe, which it said is one of the most important steps in its expansion.

Cassie Craddock, Managing Director for UK and Europe at Ripple, said MiCA is already accelerating the adoption of digital assets across the region.

Ripple now has more than 75 licenses around the world, strengthening its efforts to expand its global reach.

In addition to the progress in the EU, the company also obtained a UK license from the Financial Conduct Authority in January 2026, further strengthening its position in the main financial markets.
